The enemy has advanced beyond the Elbe, past Leipzig, through Frankfurt and now presses against the Rhine. So many of them. We cannot stop them. Calls for help from Paris go unanswered. Pleas for assistance from Luxembourg fall on deaf ears. I cannot blame them. Warsaw is gone. Vienna reduced to rubble. Berlin and Munich are now ghost towns. My infected wife and daughter, stolen away by Carriers, taken....where? I do not know. All of my officers, taken by the Crawlers, and still the Spires rain down upon the city. I have held out here, to the last. But they will not take me. I am finished. The Reich is finished....but what of it? The world, I think, will soon follow.
