Starting from the mid 1920's and ending in the late 1940's, ghost towns started appearing throughout Russia with no signs of violence but sometimes with hints of wards and symbols describing the arrival of Armageddon. It is unconfirmed of what happened with the citizens of these towns and villages, but it is without a doubt that they fell victim to the Chimera after crawlers were sent to infect these settlements and their bodies were collected for conversion.

Eventually, the absence of human populations extended to entire cities allowing the Chimera to be able to build up their forces much faster.
