Pure Chimera

Pure Chimera are the original species of Chimera, and are not created by parasitism, as standard Chimera are. Technically they are not "Chimera", as the word Chimera in scientific terms means genetic hybrid.
It is presumed that these Chimera were involved in the war with an unknown (alien) species 60 million years ago. These Chimera built the Chimeran Towers, and promptly vanished from history.
It is unknown how, but during the Chimera's invasion of Russia after 1908, Dr. Malikov was able to collect specimens of Pure Chimeran DNA, which he would use to create the Cloven, and was also used to inject into Nathan Hale (who became semi-immune but later succumbed to the virus), and Jordan Shepherd-who would mutate into Daedelus and take sole command of the Chimera world-wide.
Appearance
Pure Chimera are first mentioned and seen in Resistance 2, in Bryce Canyon. There are many of them curled up and encased in transparent egg-like containers in some large rooms. The Pure Chimera seem to be about 12-13 feet (3.6-3.9 meters) long while uncurled, but this is not certain. They resemble long, segmented armored worms, with multiple eyes on their heads and sharp shearing teeth. Their heads are similar in appearance to those of Hybrids.
Trivia
- The background of these Chimera will likely be explored further in the sequel to Resistance 2. It is possible the Pure Chimera seen in Bryce Canyon will be experienced during gameplay, as the Chimera destroyed most of Bryce Canyon, but likely managed to save these creatures. It is also possible that the Chimera attack on Bryce Canyon was to secure the Pure Chimera being held there to help their plan along.
