Nikola Tesla (10 July 1856 – 7 January 1943) was a Serbian inventor and a mechanical and electrical engineer. He is best known for many revolutionary contributions in the field of electricity and magnetism in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Tesla is also known for his eccentric proposed inventions such as the death ray.
On 1928, Tesla managed to patent an aerial transportation system which became the first instance for a Vertical Takeoff and Landing (VTOL) aircraft. The legacy of Tesla's VTOL concept design allowed the creation of the UH-17 Atlas and its later memorable successor, the U/AV-17 Hawk.
