Nicholas II of Russia

Tsar Nicholas II (Russian: Николай II Алекса́ндрович, tr. Nikolai II Aleksandrovich; 18 May [O.S. 6 May] 1868 – Unknown) was the Emperor of Russia from 1894 until 1917. He was the brother of Michael Alexandrovich, his successor to the throne. During the Great War, Nicholas II assumed the role of commander-in-chief after dismissing his cousin, Nikolai Nikolaevich, in September 1915. In October 1917, during the Russian Revolution, Nicholas II was abdicated and before being exiled to Siberia, the Tsar named his brother, Michael, his new successor, and Michael became the new Tsar of Russia. As a result, the Russian monarchist forces led by Tsar Michael brutally crushed the Bolshevik uprising, and the Bolshevik leader, Vladimir Lenin, was sent to a gulag in Siberia. After the Russian Revolution ended, the fate of Nicholas II remains unknown.
