Sergeant Marvin Kawecki is a Sentinel, He is a friend of Lt. Nathan Hale and a main Character in Resistance: the Gathering Storm.

Kawecki first appears at the beginning of the book alongside Lieutenant Hale and Private Jim Jasper in a patrol mission in South Dakota. He is shown to be very experienced and uses the L23 Fareye in combat. While fighting off heavy Chimeran forces, he took out an entire squad of Hybrids and other Chimera before escaping with Hale onto a VTOL. Later he was a Non-commissioned Officer (NCO) in the Battle on Bear Butte, and when in the middle of the battle he realized that his men were getting decapitated without anyone seeing any enemies near them, and came to the inclusion that there was a Chameleon stalking them. He quickly told Hale who found it in the fallen Chimeran shuttle attacking Cpt. Anton Nash and kill it with a Rossmore shotgun. Sgt. Kawecki along with the survivors of his squad retreated to the Landing Zone and left the battlefield.

After that Sgt. Kawecki along with Lt. Nathan Hale, Dr. Linda Barrie, Sgt. Gaines, Cpl. Pardo and Cpl. Tim Yorba were selected to take part in Operation Iron Fist, but before that he was taken to Denver to see his psychiatrist, Cassandra Alkin, to talk about his problems. Knowing that Lt. Hale and Cassie were having some sort of relationship, told her that Nathan Hale was there.

When Operation Iron Fist took place, Kawecki was in a Stalker with Sgt. Gaines to get into the Chimera stronghold. Once inside they were attacked by Hybrids injuring Sgt. Gaines. The team managed to kill the Hybrids and take the facility's lift to get to the floor they needed to retrieve the fuel rods. Once in that area Sgt. Kawecki and Cpl. Yorba protected Dr. Barrie and Lt. Hale by guarding the elevator whilst Cpl. Pardo and Sgt. Gaines went to get a chain to hoist up the box carrying the fuel rods. But whilst they were doing that a Fury jumped up and killed Cpl. Pardo by biting his face off. Once they got the box the team tried to make it to the top of the stronghold, but were again attacked by more Hybrids and Sgt. Gaines was killed when one dived forward and bit out his throat. When they finally made it to the top they had to clear out the Anti-Aircraft batteries to allow Harvey Purvis and his VTOL, Party Girl to land. Kawecki and his surviving team then escaped on the VTOL, and succeeding their mission

Kawecki then appears in Chicago, Illinois with Lt. Hale and Cpt. Bo Richards in search for former Secretary of War Henry Walker who was accused by the Grace administration as a traitor. When they arrived at the Freedom First base tinside the city, they realize that Walker isn't there, and were forced to defend the base by Chimera forces. When mos of the Chimeras are killed, Sgt. Kawecki along with everyone else are stunned by an Angel's metallic blast. Whilst being only stunned, unlike many other Freedom First Fighters and Sentinels, Kawecki still held his position and managed to fight back against the Chimera, though it was mainly Pvt. Tanner who killed most with his Wraith and Lt. Hale destroying the Angel with a LAARK.

Sometime later that a survivor named Harley Burl escaped a mine shaft and told SRPA about where Walker was, Kawecki, who acts as Platoon Sergeant, participated in a massive rescue mission.

During the mission they were attacked by a Goliath and Kawecki commanded all the Sentinels to get into nearby buildings and fire at it with LAARKs. Eventually it was successful and Lt. Hale ordered Kawecki to protect the Conversion Center from the thousands of Chimera trying to retake the land. Kawecki then ordered Danby to help Hale in the center, in which they found Walker's body and his recordings.

It is unknown what Kawecki's current status is, but judging by his code name, Echo-Five, which is also the code name for Specialist Aaron Hawthorne, he probably died before Hawthorne joined Echo Team.
