Harvey McCullen

Harvey McCullen was the 34th President of the United States. He was Noah Grace's running mate in the US Presidential Elections of 1940, 1944 and 1948, serving as the 33rd Vice President (succeeding John Garner), and ascended to the Presidency after Grace's death in 1951.

During Harvey McCullen's position as Vice President, McCullen was never fully agree with some of Noah Grace's policies, yet he was reluctant to speak fully out against Grace. In possessing a clear conscience personality McCullen was seen by Secretary of War Henry Walker as his only friend and ally in Grace's cabinet who they both share in disagreeing with Grace and his cabinet of their authoritarian policies.

When Grace revealed Project Omega, in which concerns possible negotiations between America and the Chimera, to his cabinet members, McCullen was the first person to speak out against it. However, McCullen's argument was came to naught when many of his cabinet members highly approved of Project Omega.

After Grace was killed by Nathan Hale for his treason to mankind, McCullen was briefed of his ascendancy and made a press conference in Denver, Colorado over his ascendancy and Grace's death. During the conference he was explicitly distress over the recent events, and when several new reporters question him over Grace's death and his connection to rumors of Project Abraham and "Project Daedalus", McCullen sharply rebuked their questions and stated of not willing to dishonoring his predecessor by "paying heed to thoughtless rumor, hysteria and speculation".[1]

In the following two years after his ascendancy, McCullen became a more capable leader during the Chimeran invasion, and allowed in repealing many of Grace's policies.

In late May 1953, McCullen, and including his cabinet, was killed a few hours after the Liberty Defense Perimeter fell to the Chimera when his VTOL was shot down by Chimeran fighters. After his death, General of the Army Douglas MacArthur took over as temporary leader of the United States until more formal elections could be held.[2]

McCullen's major acts as President were repealing Grace's ban on refugee immigration to bolster falling troop numbers,[3] overseeing the final fortification of the Liberty Defense Perimeter and approving "Operation Aloha", to create a colony of 150,000 citizens (selected by a committee appointed by McCullen himself) to Hawaii, with the goal of "preserving the American culture, history and way of life should an unthinkable fate befall the continental U.S."[4]
