Earth
From the Resistance Wiki
Earth is one of the four terrestrial planets in the Solar System and is the home planet of the Human race, as well as many other various life forms. The Earth is currently and apparently the main prize in the Human-Chimeran war, as both species technically originate from the same planet.
[edit] History
The Earth first formed about 6 billion years ago, and gave rise to the first single-celled organisms about 4.5 billion years ago. According to SRPA researchers, about 60 million years ago Earth was a battle site between the Chimera (or their creators) and another race. It is unknown what the outcome of this war was, but it left many ancient and advanced artifacts scattered on Earth. The Chicxulub Crater is a physical remnant of this war. And about 200,000 years ago, a certain species of exceptional speech and toolmaking adeptness arose: Homo Sapiens, otherwise known as the Human race. Indigenous to Eastern Africa, they gradually spread across the entire planet.
Eventually, humans, originally consisting of groups of hunter-gatherers, began to develop civilizations. These civilizations gradually became more and more complex, with some becoming nation-states and empires. By the year 1914, most of the world was divided into two factions, the Triple Entente, or Allies: the United Kingdom, France, and Russia, and the Triple Alliance, or Central Powers: Germany, Austria-Hungary, and other nations of similar ideals. The Central Powers were defeated at the end of World War I in 1918, resulting in a three decade long period of peace and prosperity among the planets' nations.
It is no long till the Chimera made their early appearance after 1908 and establishing their intentions of human eradication and dominance over Earth. Humanity's first known military front against the Chimera was in Russia, but this front failed, leading to hundreds of other defeats for Humanity. By late 1949 the Chimera expanded their forces out of Russia and invaded Europe and presumably Asia. It is not till the Battle of London in 1951 proves a devastating blow to the Chimera which by a month later after the battle, the Chimera lost complete control over Western Europe. Currently by 1953, the two remaining Human powers that are fighting against the Chimera were the United States of America and Britain. However, America's standing military might against the Chimera was undermined by the invasion of the Chimeran fleet and most of America later fell to the Chimera in May 1953.
[edit] Current status
Earth's status is currently unknown following the destruction of the Chimeran fleet and the apparent teleportation of the planet to another part of space with three orbiting planet-like spheres, presumably other planets taken by the Chimera. All that is known is that areas of the U.S., Britain, France, Germany, Poland, and possibly Australia are Humanity's last remaining strongholds.
