The Auger Mark II is an upgraded version of the standard Chimeran Auger Rifle. It appears in Resistance 2.
[edit] Operation
The Auger Mark II works identically to the standard Auger (Fires through most walls, creates a defensive shield), with one exception; The Auger Mark II comes with a scope that can show enemies through walls, making the Auger Mark II perfect for neutralizing enemies, without having to guess where they are as with the previous Auger. All enemy targets within a set distance show up as yellow when the Auger Mark II is aimed carefully
[edit] Technology
The Auger Mark II's new enemy highlighting power is theorized to work by sending out x-rays, or low-power, widely-dispersed transient energy pulses, every in a few nanoseconds, that pass through barriers and bounce off of enemies and objects before returning a few nanoseconds later to the Auger Mark II. The Auger Mark II's computer then interprets the data and displays the data holographically by using a low power version of the Auger II's shield to overlap the images on to the barrier. This technology would place the Auger Mark II as one of the most advanced infantry combat weapons ever seen on the battlefield. This weapons new technology enables the user to literally see through walls.
