The 1st Infantry Division was a division of the United States Army. It was was stationed in Camp Shelby, Mississippi.
Private First Class Nathan Hale was transferred to the 18th Infantry Regiment of the 1st Infantry Division from the 1st Armored Division on January 12th, 1947. It is in this division that Hale was promoted to Sergeant before being transferred to a military camp in Achnacarry, Scotland where he was elected for the Inaugural Ranger Orientation Program.
On November 12th, 1948, 1st Lieutenant Frank Gennaro was transferred to the 1st Infantry after spending time in Camp Devens, in which he became a Supply Officer and later a Captain before being transferred to the 1st Battalion, 21st Infantry Division.
