Sergeant '''Gaines''' was a [[Sentinel]] and took part in [[Operation Iron Fist]] and was part of the SAR team with 2nd Lt. [[Nathan Hale]], Sgt. [[Marvin Kawecki]], Cpl. [[Tim Yorba]], Cpl, [[Pardo]] and Dr. [[Linda Barrie]].
Gaines was most probably picked for the mission because of his height which ment he could spot [[Chimera]]n ambushes from far away. After they found the Alpha Tech they were looking for they headed for the LZ but on the way they met some Hybrids and as one lept at Gaines he shot it through the abdomen killing it instantly but the corpse carried on forward until its teeth sank into Gaines' neck killing him aswell.
